“U-CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE” PROJECT
Have you ever noticed two restaurant patrons ordering a single meal to share with each other? Typically, this occurs due to the Texas-size portions that are served. It’s too much food for just one person.
Other Texas residents share a single meal serving at home because there is not enough food for everyone to have a full portion. The threat of empty kitchen food shelves and pantries are a constant monthly challenge.
Despite the improving north Texas economy, the number of Denton County residents experiencing food insecurity continues to increase. Too many children, adults and senior citizens are hungry when the day ends. These people need your help. The Salvation Army needs your help.
The Salvation Army in Lewisville provides a free nutritious lunch in it’s dining room every
weekday to anyone who is hungry. It also partners with churches in Denton County to
provide a free lunch on Sunday at the Lewisville location. And it operates a local food
pantry. Needy individuals and families from throughout Denton County have benefited
from the Salvation Army’s outreach.
The Salvation Army-Lewisville needs to replenish its inventory of non-perishable canned
goods frequently every month to support its kitchen operation and food pantry. A $17.00
contribution will enable the Salvation Army to purchase one case containing 12 larger cans of soups, veggies, fruits, bean, etc.
