Texas Health Denton Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer, Timothy Harris, M.D.
DENTON, TX, January 20, 2014 - Timothy Harris, M.D., physician in Denton County and respected physician leader at Texas Health Resources, has been named chief medical officer at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.
“We are pleased to welcome a physician as accomplished as Dr. Harris to his new role as Chief Medical Officer,” Stan Morton, FACHE, president of Texas Health Denton, said. “He has already proven to be an influential leader in the community and his commitment to Texas Health Denton has been evident through his years of service to the hospital. We are looking forward to seeing how his vast experience will benefit our hospital and patients.”
Dr. Harris has been actively involved in improving quality outcomes while on the medical staff at Texas Health Denton. He served as vice chief of staff from 2010-2011 and has served as chief of staff since 2012.
Dr. Harris is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Texas Health Denton, and a member of the Texas Health Physician Leadership Council and the Texas Health Denton Physician Leadership Group, roles which he has the opportunity to contribute to the development of hospital policies, help guide strategic planning and improve physician and hospital staff relations.

Dr. Harris also served as the chair of the Medical Clinic of North Texas (MCNT) Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Committee, a position that has enabled him to develop policies and procedures to transform MCNT into a National Committee for Quality Assurance certified Level 3 PCMH. He also served as medical director of the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Hospice Denton and is the medical director of ACT Home Health in Denton.
He is an adjunct assistant clinical professor at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing and a clinical preceptor of nurse practitioner students.
Dr. Harris earned a bachelor of science in combined science from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and a medical doctorate from Northeastern Ohio Medical University through a six-year combined degree program. Dr. Harris completed an internship and residency in internal medicine/pediatrics at Akron General Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Harris teaches an adult Sunday school class, enjoys woodworking and volunteers his time on community projects such as Habitat for Humanity and home repair for the elderly. He also loves to travel and spend time with his wife, Carolyn, and their four children, Amanda, Lauren, Michael and Molly.
