“‘A Moment in time’ was an experiment wherein I painted a free sketch, turned the canvas, then did it again on all four sides. This gave the depth of color and history that can be seen on close inspection. Of course, I finally chose a viewpoint and highlighted the best arrangement, added the vase (my mother’s), table, and fallen petal. The petal reminds us that life is fleeting and even decay can be beautiful.”
