Flower Mound’s hottest entertainment district is about to get a big upgrade, as the restaurant destinations at the River Walk at Central Park are now under new management. The newly formed RW F&B has taken over the existing restaurant locations and has plans for exciting new brands.

Greg Retz, CEO of RW F&B, is working to ensure seamless dining experiences for the fans of the River Walk experience. He and his team are operating the restaurants under their existing brands, Scout, Sfereco and Primo’s MX Kitchen & Lounge, until each in turn launches with a new concept and menu.

“While each of the restaurant sites at the River Walk will be changing, we’re working to keep concepts open so that there are always choices for our Flower Mound diners,” explained Retz.

Retz comes to North Texas with an impressive culinary résumé. The professionally trained chef not only has a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales, where he also served as an instructor, but also a nutrition degree from Virginia Tech. Retz has served as corporate executive chef for a number of large culinary organizations, including Compass Group, Fresh Realm and most recently Regal Springs, where he also created and supported test kitchen operations.

During the transition between brands, Retz is committed to providing the highest level of service and dining experience in the restaurants. As a result, he chose to temporarily cease online ordering and third-party delivery services while he appraises what method or platforms best allow serving his Flower Mound neighbors.

“We want to focus our time right now on the guests who are choosing to dine with us in the restaurants,” said Retz. “We are focusing on making sure our team is prepared to create the best service environment in the region while we work to redefine the Flower Mound dining experience.”

As a part of that commitment to the local diner, Retz will host a series of private menu tasting experiences designed to fine-tune the menus for the soon-to-come new venues that invite area residents and diners to have a voice in the future of these restaurants.

RW F&B is moving quickly toward construction plans for the new concepts and hopes to roll each one out sequentially during the next three to four months.

The RW F&B restaurants will be joined by Jasper’s when it opens in 2023. Long known in Dallas for gourmet backyard cuisine, Jasper’s prides itself on showcasing exceptional ingredients reimagined from familiar, comforting recipes.

And even during transition, the River Walk will maintain its commitment to special events designed to engage the community. It will offer a variety of activations and events on Thanksgiving weekend, and a Christmas event scheduled for Dec. 4, as well as planned fireworks from the development on New Year’s Eve.

“We cannot wait to share our new restaurant concepts with Flower Mound,” Retz said. “We want these restaurants to resonate with the overall needs and demographics of the region, and plan to become integrated fixtures in the Flower Mound community.”
