DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks in Denton will host Kinship Night from 5-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, by donating 10 percent of all sales during that time to a community-service project of social work students at Texas Woman’s University (TWU).

Any money the students receive will go toward purchasing diapers for families attending Kinship Fair on Oct. 19 at TWU Pioneer Circle. The event is hosted by TWU, Denton Young Lawyers Association and CASA Denton to help Denton County families who care for relatives that would otherwise be in the foster care system.

Kinship families receive less funding, if any, from the state than foster parents, said Alyssa Lomerson, a social work student at TWU. In addition to fun and games at Kinship Fair, the families receive wish-list items and many request diapers.

“We like helping community groups that help others in Denton County and other parts of Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Ali Kohandani, co-owner of the restaurant. “We’ve supported social work students’ various causes for quite a while now.”
