Camp Summit announces plans to host their 20th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament.  The event will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s premier golf courses, Bear Creek Golf Club. The 2014 honorary chairs are Kristen and Kresha Walker – sisters who have been Camp Summit campers for over 10 years and are excited about this year’s event.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will fund camping and our unique programs for children and adults with disabilities like Kristen and Kresha. In addition to being a lot of fun, the activities at camp result in greater self-confidence, improved social abilities, and increased independence among campers.

The tournament will include a silent auction, contests holes, a boxed lunch donated by Chick-fil-A, drinks donated by Dr. Pepper Snapple group and an awards buffet dinner. Each player will also receive an entry into all contests including, Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, Long Drive, Putting contest and a special gift! In addition to participating as a golfer, there are also numerous levels of sponsorship opportunities available. Sponsors and teams can register online at: www.campsummit.golf.dojiggy.com.

Our goal is to have more than 250 golfers and raise $100,000.00 for this special camp. Close to 2,000 campers with developmental delays, physical, or sensory impaired disabilities come to Camp Summit each year in search of a traditional camping experience where their disabilities are left behind so they can try new adventures and participate like their non-disabled peers.

Sponsors include: Critical Electric Systems Group, Southern State Rebar, Interstate Batteries, MHMR Tarrant County, Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Chick-fil-A, Vivicare, Teague Lumber, Pegasus Logistics Group, Trinity Bank and many more.

The mission of Camp Summit is to provide barrier-free outdoor experiences that promote personal growth and foster independence for children and adults with disabilities. Campers may be physically challenged (Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, paralysis, etc.), developmentally delayed (Down syndrome, Autism, mental retardation, etc.) or have multiple disabilities ranging from mild to severe.  Camp Summit is a member of the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas.
