ACHIEVERS GIRLS TEAM CELEBRATE END OF 2018 COMPETITIVE SEASON

Team Banquet Celebration 

DENTON, TX – Gymnasts and their families along with their coaches from Achiever’s Gymnastics Center gathered recently to celebrate the success from the 2018 competition season.  The Achievers team banquet was held at the Denton Country Club where stories were shared and accomplishments were celebrated.

Special awards were given to the gymnasts by the coaching staff.  These awards were given separately to members of the Achievers Gymnastics Compulsory Teams and the Achievers Gymnastics Optional Teams.  Some of those awards included The Achievers Gymnastics Hardest Worker Award, The Achievers Most Improved Award, and The Achievers Sportsmanship Award.
In the compulsory program in the category of Hardest Worker, the coaches rewarded 2 outstanding athletes – Audrey Collins and Tatum Traylor.  The optional team Hardest Worker award recipient was Haylie Huggins.

In the category of Most Improved Gymnast, the Compulsory Team winner was Dove VoidKaden Weatherly received the most improved award for the Optional Team.

Whitney Forsythe took home the Sportsmanship award for the compulsory program.  The optional level winner of the Sportsmanship award was Erika Gustafson.     

One award is given to the athlete in each program who fulfills all the qualities of the 3 awards listed above – combined, the Achievers Gymnastics Spirit Award.  This award is very special for the girls because it is voted on by her teammates.  This year the Spirit Award recipient for the Achievers compulsory team, as voted on by her peers, was Rayden Hawley.   Anna Walker received the Spirit Award for the girls on the optional team. 

Finally, the Achievers graduating seniors were honored.  Skylar Fuentez & Lauren Grubke were presented their senior plaques and banners.  Both girls will be attending Texas Tech in the Fall.           

Other achievements were also recognized at this event, including Top 3 placement at State, qualification to the Region 3 Regional Championships, and placement in the Top 3 at Regionals.

Top 3 at State:

Level 3:           Isabelle Escobedo:  3rd place on Vault.

Level 4:           Reagan Hasty:  2nd place on Uneven Bars and 3rd place in the All Around.

Level 6:           Jade Ballard:  1st on Floor Exercise, 2nd on Balance Beam, 3rd on Vault.

                        Raegan Baker:  3rd on Uneven Bars.

Level 7:           Maddison Justice:  2nd on Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise, 3rd in the All Around.

                        Kaden Weatherly:  3rd on Balance Beam.

Region 3 Regional Championships Qualifiers:

Level 7:           Maddison Justice

                        Kaden Weatherly

Level 10:         Claire Willenborg

Top 3 at Regionals:

Level 7:           Maddison Justice:  1st on Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and in the All Around.

ACHIEVERS GYMNASTICS MEN’S TEAM FINISHES SEASON AT THE 2018 MEN’S JUNIOR OLYMPIC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS                   

 DENTON, TX – Achievers Men’s Gymnastics team member William Kudlac (Pilot Point) competed this past week in the Level 9, 13-year-old division of the 2018 Men’s Junior Olympic National Championships held in Oklahoma City, OK.  This was William’s second consecutive year qualifying to the highest possible Junior competition in the country.

Key: Floor = FX, Pommel Horse = PH, Rings = R, Vault = V, Parallel Bars = PB, Horizontal bar = HB and All Around = AA.Level 9 – 13-year-old Junior Olympic Division:

ACHIEVERS TAAF GYMNASTICS TEAM COMPLETES SEASON ON HIGH NOTE

Gymnasts achieve 4 State Championship Titles and 14 Top 10 Placements 

DENTON, TX – Gymnasts from the Achiever’s Gymnastics Center TAAF Team competed at the TAAF Level 3 State Championships held at Texas Best Gymnastics in McKinney, Texas, on May 11, 2018.  This competition is the culminating competition of the season for TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) athletes with many Achievers gymnasts placing at or near the top of the competition.            

State Championship Titles were earned by Taryn Walimaa from Hickory Creek and Kayla Ross from Shady Shores.   Walimaa took home State Titles on Uneven Bars, Floor and in the All-Around competition as well as taking home the Silver on the Balance Beam in Level 3 Division 6A.  Ross earned top honors on the Balance Beam in Level 3 Division 7A.

Additionally, a Silver Medal performance was turned in by Reese Brackeen from Krum on Floor Exercise in Level 3 Division 5A.   Brackeen also earned a Bronze Medal on Vault.  Also, Kelsey Scharfe, from Corinth, won e the Bronze Medal on Floor Exercise in Level 3 Division 4H.   

 The Achievers TAAF Gymnastics Level 3 Team athletes are back in the gym training for the 2019 competition season.

Level 3, Division 7A:

Kayla Ross, Shady Shores, placed 1st on Beam, 2nd on Vault.

Level 3, Division 6A:

ACHIEVERS GYMNASTICS TAAF TEAM COMPLETES COMPETITIVE SEASON ON HIGH NOTE

Gymnasts achieve 7 State Championship titles and 45 Top 10 Placements 

DENTON, TX – Gymnasts from Achiever’s Gymnastics Center TAAF Team competed at the TAAF Level 4 through 8 State Championships held at Metroplex Gymnastics in Allen, Texas, on May 4-6, 2018.  The competition was the culminating competition of the season for TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) athletes with many Achievers Gymnasts placing at or near the top of the competition.

State Championship Titles were earned by Shelbie Donaldson from Haslet, Astrid Giron from Lantana, Jacie Thompson from Krum, Tylee Wright from Corinth, and Olivia Burns from Krum.   Donaldson earned her Gold medal in the All-Around competition as well as the Bronze on Vault in Level 4 Division 4A.  Giron earned top honors on the Uneven Bars in Level 4 Division 4A.  Thompson placed 1st on Vault and Uneven Bars as well as placing 3rd on Balance Beam, Floor, and All Around in Level 5 Division 5.   Wright earned her Gold on the Balance Beam as well as Silver on Bars, Floor, and All Around and adding a Bronze on Vault in Level 5 Division 5.  Burns earned her State Titles on Vault and Balance Beam in Level 6 Division 22.   Additionally, a Silver Medal performance was turned in by Lauren DeCarlo from Corinth on Balance Beam in Level 4 Division 4C. 

Also, Bronze Medals were earned by Peyton Pearson form Providence Village, and Abigail McCarroll from Northlake.  Pearson earned her Bronze on Vault in Level 4 Division 6.  McCarroll earned her Bronze on Bars in Level 4 Division 3D.

The Achievers TAAF Gymnastics Team athletes who compete at Levels 4-8 are now back in the gym training for the 2019 competition season.

Level 6, Division 3:

Olivia Burns, Krum, placed 1st on Vault and Beam, 9th on Floor.

Kaden Weatherly - 9th place All-Around Level 7 Jr B

ACHIEVERS LEVEL 7 GYMNASTS COMPLETE SEASON ON HIGH NOTE

Gymnasts earn 4 Top 5 and 10 Top 10 Finishes 

DENTON, TX – Gymnasts from Achiever’s Gymnastics Center competed in the Region 3 Level 7 Regional Championships held at The University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 27-29, 2018

Maddison Justice, from Denton, earned Regional Championship titles on Bars, Balance Beam and in the All-Around competition in the Sr. D Group 3 age division.  Justice also placed 4th on Floor and 10th on Vault. 

Kaden Weatherly from Sanger took home 5 medals at this Regional Championship.  Weatherly placed 8th on Bars, 9th on Beam and in the All Around, and 10th on Vault and Floor in the highly competitive Jr. B Group 3 age division. 

Region 3, in USA Gymnastics is comprised of the top qualified gymnasts from the States of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Texas.  The Regional Championships is the culminating competition for USA Gymnasts competing at this level.  Having completed their competition season, Justice and Weatherly are now training for the 2019 competitive season.

Claire Willenborg finishes her uneven bar routine at Level 10 regionals.

ACHIEVERS LEVEL 10 GYMNAST FINISHES SUCCESSFUL SEASON AT REGIONALS 

DENTON, TX – Claire Willenborg from Highland Village, who trains at Achiever’s Gymnastics Center, competed in the Region 3 Level 10 Regional Championships on Friday, April 13, 2018, at The University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.  Region 3 is comprised of gymnasts from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Texas, and is considered to be one of the strongest Regions in USA Gymnastics.  Willenborg performed her best competition of the year at the Regional Championships, securing 12th place finishes on Vault and Floor Exercise in the Sr. B age division.  Now that her season is complete, Willenborg will begin preparation for the upcoming 2019 competition season.

DENTON, TX – The Achievers Gymnastics men’s team had outstanding results at the Region 3 Men’s championships in Ft. Worth, Texas on April 6/7/8.
Level 9 athlete William Kudlac of Pilot Point, Texas qualified to the Junior Olympic National Championships for the 2nd year in row!
Isaac Griffin won the gold medal on pommel horse in the Level 6 – 10-year-old division.

Jade Ballard, Argyle Level 6 State Floor Exercise Champion

ACHIEVERS LEVEL 6 GYMNASTS PEAK AT STATE

Gymnasts achieve 8 Top 5 Placements and 18 Top 10 Placements 

DENTON, TX – Gymnasts from Achiever’s GymnasticsCenter competed in the Texas Level 6 State Championships held at Woodlands Gymnastics Center in The Woodlands, Texas, on March 9-10, 2018.  This is the culminating competition for gymnasts at this level.

Jade Ballard from Argyle earned a State Title.  Ballard earned her Gold Medal with a tremendous performance on Floor Exercise.  Ballard also took home the Silver Medal on Balance Beam and The Bronze Medal on Vault in the Sr. C1 Age Division.  Additionally, Raegan Baker from Burneyville, Oklahoma, took home the Bronze Medal on Uneven Bars in Jr. C1 Age Division.  Also, the Achievers Gymnastics Level 6 Team comprised of Ballard, Baker, Avery Futrell from Lantana, Haylie Huggins from Decatur, and Madelyn Hurst from Aubrey, placed 7th out of 21 in the Small Team Division.  These gymnasts now enter their off season and will begin preparations for their new levels for the 2019 competition season.

Level 6, Senior C1:

Jade Ballard, Argyle, 1st on Floor, 2nd on Beam, 3rd on Vault, 4th All Around, 10th on Bars.

Level 6 Senior C3:

Achievers Gymnastics is owned and operated by Frank and Johnna Kudlac since 1992.  Celebrating 26 years serving the Denton community, the Achievers curriculum consists of many inter-working programs including Girls and Boys USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic gymnastics teams, Girls TAAF Teams, Parkour classes, Achievers Ninja Warrior Training, and various levels of recreational gymnastics, cheer and tumbling classes for children and adults of all ages.
