New Boys Program Director at Achievers

Achievers welcomes new USAG boys’ team director – Ryan Turney

Achievers Gymnastics Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Turney to lead and direct the USAG boys’ competitive team program.  Ryan will assume his duties at Achievers this coming June 1st. Ryan brings a great deal of gymnastics coaching experience and knowledge to the Achievers competitive boys program.

“We are excited to welcome Ryan into our growing Achievers coaching family.  I’ve known Ryan since he started as a gymnast here at Achievers over 15 years ago, and have watched him grow and develop in the boys’ team coaching ranks.  “We have experienced a growth in our boys’ team program and we want to move the program to a higher level of competitiveness.  I am positive he will help advance the level of our gymnasts at our gym”, states Frank Kudlac, owner of Achievers Gymnastics Center. "As you can see by the success & coaching credentials he carries, our gym and athletes are blessed to have him back to lead the boys program.  I can’t think of a better role model for our athletes to have influence them in their gymnastics journey at Achievers.”

Ryan has been involved with the sport of gymnastics for 17 years.  He started gymnastics training when he was 4 years old, and trained at Achievers for 4 years before finishing his competitive career at Empire gymnastics as a level 10 athlete. As a gymnast, he won many state and regional titles and competed at the Jr. Olympic championships in 2011.

In addition to his gymnastics experience, Ryan was also a competitive cheerleader for Spirit of Texas in 2012.  His team competed at and won worlds.  He also cheered for Texas Tech for 1 year and competed at NCA Nationals where his Texas Tech team placed third out of 9 teams in 2013.

Most recently, for the past three years, Ryan was the boys’ team head coach at Texas Elite Gymnastics Academy (TEGA) in Lubbock, TX.  He has had much success in growing and advancing the TEGA boys team program. Several of his athletes have won state titles and have qualified to the USAG regional championships. Most recently, at the 2015 region 3 boys’ championships, one of his level 8 athletes qualified for the Jr. Olympic National Championship.

“I am very excited to be coming back to Achievers as the boys’ program director.  I am looking forward to helping advance the boys’ team to the next level and work with Frank (Kudlac) to help the entire Achievers gym grow”, stated Coach Turney.

Ryan is looking forward to moving back and getting more involved with the Denton community. Ryan is engaged to Chandler Stange and is getting married in August.  They will make their home in the Denton area.

In addition to his boys coaching and directing duties, Ryan will be starting and directing the new Achievers after-school program.  Parents will have the option to have their children picked up at their school and transported from school to Achievers for a gymnastics class or team practice, or to have some supervised study/homework time before they are picked up by their parents.
